What vinyl weight should I choose for an outdoor banner?

Choose 13 oz scrim vinyl for most outdoor jobs. It is rated for 3–5 years of outdoor exposure with proper installation and works well for storefronts, events, and sports signage on outdoor banners. If your banner will stay up continuously for more than a year, is mounted in a high-traffic area where it may be bumped or rubbed, or needs to be read from both sides without ghosting, upgrade to 18 oz blockout vinyl on our double-sided banners page. How large can a custom vinyl banner be printed?

Standard vinyl banners print from 6 inches by 6 inches up to 16 feet by 50 feet. Standard size banners cover the most common storefront and event dimensions, while large format vinyl banners handle oversized building faces and long horizontal layouts. Mesh vinyl for fence and stadium applications is available up to 50 feet wide by 16 feet tall on our mesh banners page. Soft polyester fabric banners top out around 58 inches by 240 inches on standard sizes, with larger custom sizes available on request.

What file format and resolution should I submit?

Submit print-ready PDF, AI, EPS, or high-resolution TIFF or PNG files at 100–150 DPI at final printed size. RGB and CMYK color modes are both accepted, but CMYK is preferred to allow for the least amount of color variation. Keep critical text and logos at least 2-3 inches inside the finished edge to avoid trimming issues. How much does printing of banners cost?

Price depends on material, size, and quantity—small 13 oz vinyl banners start at just a few dollars. Bulk orders receive tiered per-unit discounts, making the cost-per-banner lower the more you order. Choose a 5 Business Day Saver production time to reduce cost, or select 2 Business Day Express if you need it faster. How fast will my banner be produced and shipped?

Standard production is 3 business days after final artwork approval. Express production (2 business days) is available for an additional charge, and the 5 Business Day Saver option reduces cost slightly. Production time does not include FedEx or UPS transit time. Orders submitted after 5 PM CST are processed the following business day. Total delivery time is production days plus transit days to your location.

What finishing options are available?

The most common finish for outdoor banners is hemmed edges with grommets every 2–3 feet, which makes it easy to hang with ropes or bungee cords. Pole pockets in 2-inch, 3-inch, or 4-inch widths are ideal for banner stands and hanging display systems. Reinforced hems and corners are recommended for banners over 32 square feet that will be used outdoors. Wind slits are not recommended as they compromise the printed surface.

How do I care for and store a vinyl banner after use?

Roll the banner face-out for storage—never fold it, because creases in vinyl are permanent. Clean with mild soap and water and avoid solvents, which can cloud or lift the ink.
